Your ROC
What is it?
The Regional Operations Centre.
The roles and responsibilities of a ROC are defined at the as:
- Coordinate and support deployment.
- Bring new resources into the infrastructure and support their operation within it.
- Act as source of expert advice and technical support in deploying and operating the middleware in the RCs.
- Participate in validating new middleware releases - organise and operate certification testbeds within the region, provide resources (from regional RC’s) for pre-production service.
- Port middleware to specific regional needs (e.g. local supercomputers etc.)
- Coordinate and support operations
- Act as front-line user support.
- Act as front-line support for RC.
- Refer problems to OCC.
- Operate (or organise) regional grid services (BDII, RB, UI) as necessary.
For sites in the UK and Ireland the ROC is based at STFC's Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire.

How to Participate
The current software stack is known as glite.
In case of any issues users are invited to contact the Global Grid User Support.
This site requires users to have a EGEE recognised X.509 certificate in their browser. The UK EGEE certification authority is the NGS.
The GOC and GOC DB
What is it?
The Grid Operation Centre (GOC) is responsible for co-ordinating the overall operation of the Grid. It acts as a central point of operational information such as configuration information and contact details.
The GOC DB is a secure database holding details of all sites, their computing nodes, periods of scheduled maintenance and their site admins and other contact details. For more information on joining and using GOC DB please visit the GOCDB webpage.
